Lake Buena Vista, FL – In a thrilling turn of events for Disney fans and adventurers alike, we are excited to announce the launch of "Simba’s Wild Adventure," a groundbreaking new attraction at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. While a Lion King ride at this beloved park was not part of the announcements at this year’s D23 Expo, we’re making it a reality ourselves!
Inspired by the 1994 animated classic The Lion King, "Simba’s Wild Adventure" promises to transport guests into the heart of the African savanna, immersing them in the vibrant world of Simba, Timon, and Pumbaa. Located behind the Festival of the Lion King, this ride is poised to become a must-see attraction for all Disney enthusiasts.
A Journey Through the Pride Lands
The adventure begins in the queue, where guests will walk underneath Pride Rock, past the iconic log at Timon and Pumbaa’s oasis, and into the shadow of the Baobab tree where Rafiki resides. This immersive environment sets the stage for an unforgettable journey.
The ride vehicles are unique carousel-style animals, featuring giraffes, zebras, ostriches, antelope, rhinos, and water buffalo, designed in the signature animation style of the original Lion King film. For those seeking a more traditional ride experience, family-friendly hippos provide a seated option, including ADA accessibility.
Once aboard, the adventure kicks into high gear. Thanks to cutting-edge trackless ride technology, each animal will roam freely through the Pride Lands, creating a dynamic and unpredictable experience. The ride’s seamless choreography ensures that no two journeys are ever the same.
The Story Comes to Life
As you begin your journey, the first stop is the unforgettable "Circle of Life" scene, where guests are welcomed by Rafiki and a host of animal animatronics, all celebrating the birth of Simba. This breathtaking moment is enhanced by a 360-degree projection of the African savanna, fully immersing guests in the magic of the Pride Lands.
The ride continues with a high-energy rendition of "I Just Can’t Wait to Be King," featuring Simba and Nala in a vibrant, Broadway-inspired set, complete with rotating stages and animatronics that interact with guests as they pass by. The scene’s grand finale utilizes a unique turntable mechanism, bringing the iconic moment to life like never before.
The adventure then takes a darker turn as guests enter the Elephant Graveyard, where Scar and his hyenas plot their treachery in a dramatic "Be Prepared" sequence. But don’t worry – the ride quickly transitions to the lighthearted "Hakuna Matata" scene, where guests join Simba, Timon, and Pumbaa in their carefree paradise.
The journey concludes with a romantic scene from "Can You Feel the Love Tonight," followed by the final showdown between Simba and Scar, leading to a triumphant finale atop Pride Rock, where Simba takes his rightful place as king.
