Lake Buena Vista, FL – Step back into the eerie glamour of Hollywood's golden age as the Hollywood Tower Hotel unveils its newest addition: The Twilight Zone Lounge. Just thirty years after the tragic events of 1939, where an elevator cab carrying five people vanished after being struck by lightning, the hotel is set to captivate guests once again with its immersive and mysterious new lounge.
Idiot Imagineers meticulously crafted a rich backstory for the Tower of Terror ride, and now, this new lounge adds another layer to the tale. Set in Hollywood, 1940, The Twilight Zone Lounge offers a glimpse into a world where the rest of the hotel appears abandoned and desolate, yet this exclusive hangout is bustling with life. It has remained an enigma since its inception, always booked and busy, while the rest of the Hollywood Tower Hotel faded away. The hotel itself never actually reopened, leaving The Twilight Zone as a spectral oasis.
An Intimate and Exclusive Experience
The Twilight Zone Lounge is designed to be an intimate space, accommodating up to 50 guests, akin to the cozy atmosphere of Trader Sam’s. Nestled to the right of the gift shop area, the lounge will be housed in a newly constructed section, carefully integrated with the original architecture of the Tower of Terror.
The lounge is themed as a 1940s smoking room, with dark mahogany hardwood walls, plush red velvet love seats, and a dark wooden bar. Soft lighting and a collection of mismatched Tiffany-style antique lamps create a warm, nostalgic ambiance. Hosts and bartenders dressed in 1940s attire enhance the experience, accompanied by the timeless tunes of Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra.
A Hauntingly Unique Atmosphere
True to the spirit of the Twilight Zone, the lounge offers more than just a historical setting. A floor-length mirror inspired by the episode “Mirror Image” adds a supernatural twist. Guests might find their reflections altered, seeing themselves in a different bar from another dimension, or encountering the souls trapped in the fifth dimension. These augmented reality effects ensure that the Twilight Zone Lounge remains as eerie as it is elegant.
Exclusive Access and Themed Cocktails
Due to its limited capacity, access to The Twilight Zone Lounge will be by reservation only. Guests will receive a scavenger hunt to complete throughout the park, leading to a password that grants entry. Inside, they can enjoy a selection of specialty drinks inspired by iconic Twilight Zone episodes. Signature cocktails include The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street, a maple syrup-based smoked Old Fashioned, and Number 12, a sophisticated Manhattan cocktail mixed with absinthe and served with a smoky flourish.
Join us at The Twilight Zone Lounge for an evening where history, imagination, and the supernatural blend seamlessly. Stay tuned for opening dates and reservation details.
